At the airport the other day I was pulled aside for an explosives check, but the man doing the testing was much more interested in the book under my arm.
"Oh, Bon Scott, sir!" he effused, spotting the title. "Now there was a great singer! I like him much better than the new AC/DC singer, sir!"
The book, from which we extract today's cover story, is by the singer's former wife, Irene. It's an insight into life in Adelaide in the 1970s, as well as the man who went on to front one of the greatest Australian rock bands.
Bon tasted the success he sought, but it helped to kill him. He died in 1980. Yet, as my airport security man attests, he's never really gone away.
