EDITOR’S LETTER

The Advertiser - SA Weekend - - UP FRONT -

The US Declaration of Independence says the “pursuit of Happiness” is one of mankind's most basic rights. But can you actually pursue happiness, and how do you know when you catch it?

Personally, I've always found the biggest barrier to happiness is thinking too much about yourself. Conversely, the best way to find yourself feeling good is to do something meaningful for others — your family, or even people you don't know.

Writer Katie Spain puts that hypothesis to the test for our cover story today, in an issue we hope puts a smile on your face. Katie's month-long experiment with random acts of kindness yielded some surprising, and moving, results.
