The Advertiser - SA Weekend - - DIARY - Anna vlach

words ANYONE who knows me knows I like to consume a certain caffeinated carbonated beverage.

But I also like to go cold turkey by doing a cold-press juice cleanse with an interstate company which delivers.

So when I heard a competitor, Pressed Juices, had set up shop in Rundle St, I was buying.

I decided to do a one-day cleanse which in-house nutritionist Eva said would give me a taste of the results you get with three or five days. After Eva helped me choose eight juices including a green, lemon with cayenne pepper and a “chocolate” smoothie with hazelnuts and raw cacao, I prepped by laying off the caffeine.

Next day I sipped my juices – one every two hours – making sure I also drank lots of water as instructed.

While I never felt hungry (and they were yummier than my usual brand), I did feel slightly lethargic.

The cleanse also moved me – physically (too much information, I know) and “spiritually” – I felt like I had done a good thing for my body. I found myself craving cleaner foods and haven’t touched a diet cola since.

While weight loss didn’t happen overnight it did happen. When I weighed myself about four days later I had lost a kilo. And a friend told me my skin was radiant, so I’m beaming. THE TREATMENT One-day cleanse (eight juices) $66 WHERE Pressed Juices, 231 Rundle St, Adelaide, 1300 773 775, pressedjuices.com.au
