The Advertiser - SA Weekend - - DIARY - Lisa woolford

ANOTHER SATURDAY, another wedding — this time the forecast was for freezing temperatures and pouring rain. I needed a summer glow (cough ... spray tan) to lift my spirits. My lilywhite legs and arms were not going to cut it for the formal reception.

I ruled out applying my own, potentially streaky, tan for the occasion and booked in with the girls at Essential Beauty Tea Tree Plaza.

The driving rain started that morning and showed no signs of letting up. Rain is the natural enemy to spray tan but, vanity over sanity, I headed to my appointment.

There was no waiting around, I was taken into the booth and my beauty therapist set to work spraying until I was medium brown and glowing all over. Her attention to detail was fabulous – taking special care with my hands and wrists, wiping the inside of my hands to make sure the palms didn’t turn brown. Essential Beauty has a fast-drying and developing tan – you can actually shower within four hours – perfect for last-minute functions – but the girls advise you wait 8 hours for a longer lasting and deeper tan. I left huddling under my umbrella and made it to my car in a brief respite from the showers. And enjoyed five days of summer bliss – well, OK, just a “sun-kissed” glow.
