EDGE OF THE SOFA
ROHAN Dennis’s parents won’t be in France to watch him ride the biggest bike race on the planet this month but they will be glued to their televisions.
Especially tonight when he will be a major contender for the Stage 1 individual time trial over 13.8km, which will put the winner in the yellow jersey. But Debbie and Brenton Dennis say they are proud of their son no matter what he achieves on a bike.
“I’m very proud of the person he has become,” Brenton says. “I saw a photo on Facebook the other day when he got the yellow jersey at the Criterium du Dauphine and there were kids who hung around for an hour to get his signature.
“And Rohan gave them his time and that’s what makes me most proud.”
