STRIPE ME LUCKY

The Advertiser - SA Weekend - - UPFRONT - WORDS KATE BOWDEN

This autumn, the look is large and loose with lots of spots and stripes.

If we’re talking thematic clothing, both polka dots and stripes are nothing new, my friend. Both have been around longer than the democracy sausage, and add far more flavour to your life than the aforementioned meaty treat.

And this season we’re not discriminating, either. Take them big or small, spots and stripes should be added whenever and wherever you can. The one important part, though, is in the styling.

Make sure your piece is layerable. This winter season sees exaggerated layers the thing. Baggy leg pant with loose knit over top or loose flowing dress, again with a roomy knit layered over the top. Take for instance, this oversized Kowtow scarf that we adore – in the perfect autumn palette, it looks best finishing off a pair of relaxed pants and a giant knit that could fit a friend in with you too, if need be. Slouchy spots and stripes, that’s what we’re talking about.
