Thirsty work for Albo
THE people’s choice to lead the Labor Party has taken a leaf out of Tony Abbott’s book and sculled a beer in front of dozens of punters cheering him on.
Wearing a South Sydney Rabbitohs jersey, Anthony Albanese took 12 seconds to down a can of beer in the dressing rooms at Elsternwick Oval in Melbourne after a charity footy match.
Mr Albanese, or Albo to the punters, was a special guest at the Reclink Community Cup footy match between musicians and radio identities. The MP regularly attends live gigs and earlier this year hosted ABC TV music show Rage.
It comes after Mr Abbott sculled a beer in a Sydney pub in April.
Mr Albanese won the Labor Party members’ vote for the leadership against Bill Shorten after the last election but Mr Shorten had the numbers in Caucus.
