Hicks’ song for peace

LONDON bombings survivor Gill Hicks, right, yesterday launched a new campaign to help stop violent extremism.

The initiative, #TELLYOU, is about encouraging conversation between people who have survived or witnessed violent action, even former extremists themselves.

A song, I Want To Tell You, written by Gary Burrows and featuring former jazz singer Ms Hicks, was launched in Sydney yesterday to support the cam- paign, ahead of the 10th anniversary of the London bombings next month.

Adelaideborn Ms Hicks, 46, who lost both her legs in the explosions on the London Underground on July 7, 2005, will return to London for the anniversary.

She said preventing terrorism was not as simple as stripping someone of citizenship.
