Tips for top holiday
SCIENTISTS claim to have discovered what’s needed to turn holiday moments into lifelong memories.
The top three ingredients are company (22 per cent), time (17 per cent), and location (15 per cent). Activities, weather, uniqueness, sounds, sights, smells and tastes also feature as important contributors.
The study was conducted by neuro-psychologist Dr David Lewis and Mindlab International, using in-lab research and online interviews with 6000 Europeans. Commissioned by lastminute.com, it also found men and women remember different moments.
Men recall immediate and sensual details such as sights and sounds. Women place more emphasis on location and what they were doing.
Dr Lewis said: “People are key. It’s important to invest in creating treasured memories so you can tap into them when you need a pick-me-up.”
