Full moons bared above
THERE were full moons aplenty as hundreds of people took the plunge in the River Derwent in Hobart yesterday morning for an annual nude solstice swim.
Of the 1100 people that registered, a record crowd of 752 mustered up the courage to dive into the river.
The ritual, organised by the Dark Mofo festival, marks the completion of the year’s longest night – the winter solstice.
“It’s throwing off your clothes and cleansing yourself for the year ahead,” Dark Mofo executive producer Kate Gould said.
