MURRAY Bridge rower James McRae has taken out silver in the men’s double scull in Varese, Italy.

The World Rowing Cup second stage is currently underway and on Sunday Australia won three gold medals, two silvers and a bronze.

McRae, an Olympic rower in 2008 and 2012, paired up with NSW’s Alexander Belonogoff to finish just six seconds behind winner Croatia.

Gold medals went to Kim Crow in the women’s single scull, Erik Horrie in the men’s single scull and Kathryn Ross and Gavin Bellis in the mixed double scull.
