A great SA sporting tale

The Advertiser - - CONFIDENTIAL -

ADOCUMENTARY about South Australia’s legendary Murray Cods rowing team will be revived this weekend.

Paris or the Bush: The Story of the Cods, by local filmmakers Wayne Groom and Carolyn Bilsborow, will be screened nationally on Nine tomorrow.

Originally released in 2016, the feature-length doco tells the amazing story of the Murray Cods, a rough and tumble bunch of Murray

Bridge boys who broke through the class barrier to dominate Australian rowing and represent their country at the 1924 Olympics.

“This is our Chariots of Fire,” says director Wayne.

“Can you imagine if a footy team from Murray Bridge somehow won the AFL premiership? That’s the equivalent of what they achieved.”
