’Dangerous’ burnouts at site of fatal crash
POLICE are investigating a video that emerged on social media showing a car doing a burnout in the middle of an Elizabeth East intersection – seemingly as a tribute to two teens who were killed in a motorcycle crash at the site on Friday.
The video, captioned “This was for you boys”, shows a white sedan doing a burnout from Shandon Court into the middle of Main North Rd, to the cheers of onlookers.
Other cars can be seen waiting at the intersection. Police have condemned the driver’s behaviour, saying the video has been sent to their Traffic Services Branch for investigation.
“The behaviour displayed in the video is not appropriate on public roads,” a police spokeswoman said. “It is dangerous, reckless and may lead to serious injuries or loss of life.”
It comes after an 18-yearold Davoren Park man and a 17-year-old Andrews Farm boy died after the allegedly stolen motorbike they were riding and a car collided at the intersection of Main North Rd and Shandon Court just before 8pm on Friday.
The car driver – a 46-yearold Hillbank man – was not injured in the smash.
