Outstanding Excursions
WITH 4000 hectares of recreational parkland and conservation bushland just 25 minutes from the Perth CBD, Whiteman Park is the perfect excursion opportunity for students to harness the power of learning outside the classroom.
Covering some of the most significant facets of Whiteman Park, the parks educational programs have been designed to allow students to learn as they play.
The education programs include Wheels of Change for transport heritage, and Whiteman Wallaby for environmental education.
Developed in conjunction with the current Western Australian syllabus and incorporating the new Australian National Curriculum, the programs provide opportunities for students to learn, develop, and grow with a focus on the Humanities and Social Sciences.
The Wheels of Change Program offers students the chance to learn how transport has changed over time, the important role it plays in our everyday lives and the features of different modes of transport.
Whiteman Park’s strongest cultural theme is land transport, with three museums and three transport groups located within the expansive grounds.
The Whiteman Wallaby program is designed to show students the wonders of the Western Australian bush and encourage conservation ideology.
The Wallaby program focuses on the natural environment, conservation, our native fauna, groundwater, and various ecosystems through creative, interactive and engaging activities.
Each program has been designed specifically for the intended age group, examining different aspects of transport history or the natural environment.
Delivered within a unique fusion of natural bushland and vintage transport experiences, these programs aim to provide avenue for students to develop their understanding of how communities experience change over time as well as engage them with the natural environment.
Whiteman Park offers vintage train and heritage electric tram experiences for students to enjoy, as well as old fashioned picnic games and sports equipment hire.
