Global energy prize win for Huonville

HUONVILLE High School will receive $133,000 towards a renewable energy project as one of the winners of the Global High Schools Zayed Energy Prize.

Huonville will use the prize money to implement solar power, wind power, pedal power systems, waste conversion technology, and energy auditing training.

The Chair of the Global High Schools Committee Dr. Abdulla Ismail Alzarouni said the prize had created a strong momentum for engaging and moulding future energy leaders.

“This year, we saw entries from more new countries for the Global High Schools category, indicating that young people around the world are engaged and in tune with the need for sustainabl­e practices.”
