Phoenix South-3 contract confirmed

PHOENIX South-3 partners Quadrant Energy (80 per cent) and Carnarvon Petroleum (20 per cent) have awarded global offshore drilling company Transocean a contract to undertake drilling works at the well off the coast of WA.

Transocean will drill at the project between 1 February and 1 April 2018, using its GSF Developmen­t Driller-1 semi-submersibl­e drilling rig.

The Phoenix South-3 well was being designed as a redrill of the Phoenix South-2 well, which is estimated to contain a gross mean recoverabl­e prospectiv­e resource of 489 billions of standard cubic feet of gas (Bscf) and 57 million barrels of associated condensate.
