Indigenous advancement through enterprise
SK Thalanyji (SKT) is an Indigenous owned company that supplies the environmentally responsible Surekleen range of chemicals, cleaning products and solutions for the industrial, marine, oil and gas, mining, agricultural and hospitality sectors.
Established in 2012, the company is endorsed and recognised by the Thalanyji Traditional owners, who Chevron has an Indigenous Land Use Agreement with in relation to the Wheatstone LNG project.
All Surekleen chemicals and products have been formulated with environmental responsibility at the forefront.
The products are highly effective both in application and price comparison.
SKT has delivered four years of supply to the Wheatstone project, achieving flawless safety and security of supply.
The company has developed its capability to enable significant expansions within the oil and gas industry supply chains.
As an Indigenous business, participation in the supply of environmentally responsible chemicals and cleaning products is congruent with connection to and caring for country.
The SKT supply process is focused upon leaving no waste.
With this in mind, SKT provides a drum re-use and recycling program.
All drums are freighted back to its factory in Malaga, WA; washed, re-labelled and reused.
Damaged drums are chipped and the plastic reconstituted into other plastic products.
SKT sustainability goals include ensuring raw materials are derived from renewable resources and manufactured in accordance with the principles of green chemistry; as well as reducing the environmental impact of products by careful selection of materials and formulation of high performance products.
The company also strives to improve the safety of its products by adopting less hazardous materials; eliminating dangerous/hazardous products from the product range and all waste from the manufacturing process through recycling and improved production methods; developing cooperation with customers to utilise re-usable packaging and reduce packaging material use and cost.
SKT is committed to reducing its carbon footprint with both packaging and product.
Doing business with SKT delivers a big win for the environment and effective engagement with Indigenous business while providing customers with exceptional product and service.
Thanks to participating Wheatstone contractors’ participation in the recycling program, SKT has reused and recycled 72,000 drums per year.
The program eliminates the need for plastics going into landfill and the leaching of chemical residue into our precious land and waterways.
The environmental benefits are also delivered with the SKT waste water treatment and dust suppressant solutions.
SKT recently passed the rigorous environmental standard and processes of Barrow Island and has commenced supply.
Effective participation by successful Indigenous businesses within the supply chains of the oil and gas industry will contribute greatly to Closing the Gap against all indicators.
