MARITIME Constructions has secured a design and construct contract to build a new marine support base in Beadon Creek (Onslow), Western Australia.

The Onslow Marine Support Base (OMSB) is being developed privately by OMSB Pty Ltd.

The project comprises of a 200m long wharf, a 36m wide landing craft (LCT) ramp and a 700 tonne heavy lift crane pad for servicing the offshore oil and gas industry.

Works started in November 2016 with the dredging of the berth pocket and LCT ramp, which involved the removal of 48,000 cubic metres of material.

Dredge spoil was screened and reused for constructing the entire Support Base, with approximately 36,000 cubic metres being used for land reclaim behind the wharf.

Sheet piling works commenced in April 2017, driving 17m long AZ25-800 sheets for the new wharf structure.

The 9 x 900mm dia piles for the heavy lift crane pad were driven in July, with works now concentrating on the LCT ramp, tie rods and backfilling.

The project is due for completion in September 2017.
