Perse­phone be­gins pro­duc­tion

WOOD­SIDE has be­gun pro­duc­tion at its $1.2 bil­lion Perse­phone gas field off the coast of WA.

BP, one of the project’s share­hold­ers (16.67 per cent), an­nounced the Perse­phone gas field was now on stream, as well as its Ju­niper project off­shore of Trinidad and Tobago.

135km north-west of Kar­ratha, WA, the Perse­phone field was dis­cov­ered in 2006 by the ex­plo­ration well Perse­phone-1, 8km north-east of the North West Shelf Project’s North Rankin Com­plex and was ap­proved for devel­op­ment in 2014.

The project is set to con­trib­ute about 50,000 bar­rels of oil equiv­a­lent per day.
