Kennedy Energy Park begins construction
CONSTRUCTION has begun on Windlab and Eurus Energy’s $160 million first stage Kennedy Park Energy renewable project, near Hughenden in North-west QLD.
The 60MW project will be the first utility-scale wind, solar and storage hybrid generator connected to the national energy network, comprising 56,000 solar panels, lithium ion storage batteries, and 12 Vestas V136, 3.6MW wind turbines.
The project will take 12 months to build and is expected to be operational by late 2018.
Big Kennedy, the second phase of the project, will provide up to 1200MW of wind energy and will be a central component of the State’s Powering North Queensland plan.
