Thiess awarded FMG work

GLOBAL min­ing ser­vices provider Thiess has won a con­tract to in­stall au­tonomous haulage sys­tem tech­nol­ogy at Fortes­cue Met­als Group’s Christ­mas Creek oper­a­tions in the Pilbara.

Un­der the 18-month con­tract, Thiess will con­vert a min­i­mum of 65 haul trucks, along with var­i­ous sub-com­po­nent in­stalls to al­low ma­chin­ery to au­tonomously op­er­ate at Fortes­cue’s Chich­ester Hubs.

The work would see the in­stal­la­tion of the sys­tem onto Fortes­cue’s Ko­matsu 930E and Cater­pil­lar 789D.

Thiess manag­ing direc­tor Dou­glas Thomp­son said the com­pany was pleased to con­tinue work­ing with Fortes­cue to de­liver au­tonomous sys­tems to its min­ing fleet.
