Full range of corrugated steel products
ROUNDEL is the only Australian company to offer the full range of corrugated steel products to the mining industry.
In the Pilbara, Roundel manufactures Stilcor corrugated metal pipes ( CMP) culverts in its Tom Price factory, or directly on-site with its specialised mobile pipe mills.
Recent projects have included FMG’s Eliwana Rail ( Stage 1), BHP’s South flank and MAC projects, plus the early works for Rio Tinto’s major Koodaideri project.
Roundel has also been busy with its partners developing a protective coating system for steel culverts, substantially improving the abrasion resistance and lifespan performance.
The coating, known as High Performance Laminate or ‘HPL’, is a heavy duty, reinforced polyethylene (PE) coating, locally tested to provide a 100-year lifespan in accordance with AS2041.
The significance of the HPL coating has been quickly recognised by engineers and the materials will feature on Rio Tinto’s Koodaideri Rail North project, with more than 3000t to be manufactured on-site, commencing early August 2019.
The unique challenges imposed by manufacturing in the Pilbara will again be met by Roundel’s teams of highly skilled, experienced and committed personnel, with contractors and mine-owners alike relying on Roundel’s ability to deliver on time, even in the most adverse conditions.
The company continues to develop the market for its range of bolted, corrugated steel structures offering design and manufacture to AS2041, plus on-site assistance of the assembly works.
Consisting of bolted plates, the structures are offered in various geometric shapes, corrugation profiles and materials thicknesses. These are typically used as LV underpasses for haul roads, pedestrian or animal access, stockpile and conveyor tunnels, and mine portals or decline tunnels.
Roundel also supplies the B381 structures in a range of wide-span low-profile box culverts, as a direct alternative to RC box culverts.
Operating across Australia with permanent manufacturing plants in Perth and Tom Price (WA), Townsville and Capella (Qld) and Blayney (NSW), plus on-site manufacturing crews, Roundel is the country’s leading supplier of corrugated metal pipes and corrugated plate structures.
A valuable source for engineers, specifiers and end-users of corrugated metal structures, whether simple drainage culverts or complex super-span arches, is Roundel’s new, revamped website — visit www.roundel.com.au for more information.
