The FASTest data in Australia
DURING exploration, resource definition and production, getting analytical data quickly is vital for making accurate, timely decisions.
SGS Australia’s field analytical services and testing (FAST) approach to exploration, mining and processing gives accurate and supported analytical data to its clients within 24-48 hours from the sampling event by using its new portable technologies.
This timely response can help field geologists to quickly identify resource drill patterns as part of exploration or pre-feasibility studies, this technology allows for real-time changes to drill positioning and minimisation of drill and laboratory analysis spend.
SGS and Minalyze working together now provide FAST XRF core scanning services.
This generates objective and consistent data using patented technology which produces both elemental quantification along with hi-resolution sample imaging with a throughput in excess of 80m per day.
Furthermore, by taking micro samples and analysing using quantitative Fourier Transform Infra-Red analysis (FTIR) it is possible to provide detailed mineralogical as well as elemental logs.
The data can then be used to either update existing geological models or, using machine learning, the Geostat team can produce new predictive models.
SGS FAST is cloud-based, meaning that physical distance and time zone restrictions will not hinder operations.
SGS FAST enables businesses to make faster decisions during active exploration, optimising the exploration spend, and realising an earlier return on exploration investments and development activities.
This ensures rapid project development, maintains consistent plant performance and minimises downtime, which ultimately creates a more attractive company profile for investors.
