COCA-Cola Amatil chief executive Alison Watkins will join other corporate heavyweights in June for her first Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
She is one of a small band of women CEOs joining the national fund raiser for the homeless organised by the St Vincent de Paul Society. Others include Ellie Comerford (Genworth), Martine Jager (RAMS), Holly Kramer (Best & Less), and Merryn York (Powerlink Queensland).
Watkins and others in the Sydney sleepout on June 18 will be huddled in sleeping bags at Luna Park. Other CEOs will hunker down on cardboard sheets on the ground in Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Launceston, Darwin, Alice Springs, Newcastle and Wollongong. The Adelaide sleepout takes place on June 25.
This year is the 10th h anniversary of the event nt which was first held in Sydney y Olympic Park in June 2006. It will focus attention on the increasingsing problem of homeless women. Vinnies says some 44 per cent of homeless are women. The CEOs aim to raise more than $10 million from this year’s event.
