02 THE SLEEPING BEAUTY, AUSTRALIAN BALLET
Melbourne, September 15-26; Perth, October, 7-10; Sydney, November 27-December 16 A beautiful young princess is cursed by a malevolent fairy to sleep for 100 years, and is awakened by the kiss of a charming prince. This version of the 700-year-old fairy tale (considerably darker in the original) inspired a truly enchanting score from Tchaikovsky. A brand new production of the beloved ballet has its world premiere this month, directed by AB artistic director David McAllister, who has added to Marius Petipa’s classic choreography. Sets and costumes are by Gabriela Tylesova ( Love Never Dies).
