CO-HOST, TODAY SHOW

TELL US ABOUT YOUR MENTORS. I’ll always be grateful to Ita Buttrose who, after I was asked to appear on a pilot TV show with her in the early ’80s, sent me the most beautiful handwritten note congratulating me on the job I was doing editing Dolly. I had only been in the job for about 18 months, so I still had my editor “training wheels” on, but to receive a note from such a legend of the publishing industry giving me so much encouragement is something I will always be grateful for. And it’s something I’ve always tried to do myself. WHAT’S YOUR BEST ADVICE FOR WOMEN? Don’t be shy. Network. Make connections. Follow through. Be unique. Get your story out there and be the change you want to see. WHAT WAS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WERE GIVEN AS A GIRL? “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” From the moment I first heard those words, they resonated. But I never could have imagined that I would be so lucky as to find myself in an industry that I not only loved, but that would allow me to diversify to the extent that I have. From first starting out in magazines, then moving into radio and now being able to combine TV with the Today show and online with The Hu‰ngton Post Australia, there really hasn’t been a day when I haven’t felt incredibly blessed to do the work I do. It’s constantly changing and evolving, and hopefully, as a person, I continue to grow as a result.
