THE DRESSMAKER

Originally published back in 2000, The Dressmaker is known most recently for the movie starring Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth. The novel is set in a small Australian country town – giving a snapshot of what rural life could be like back in the 1920s through to the 1950s. It tells the story of beautiful but in many ways tragic Tilly Dunnage, who returns to her home town, from which she was banished as a child in horrific circumstances. Tilly comes back 25 years later after mastering the art of dress design in Paris, and from there a tale of tragedy and revenge unfolds.
