HACKSAW RIDGE

Shot in Australia and directed by Mel Gibson with a stellar Aussie cast, this World War II drama is the true story of a US Army medic, Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield, above, right), who enlisted as a medic, but refused to take up arms. He saved 75 lives at the Battle of Okinawa while under fire, but without firing a bullet. Opens November 3.
