The sound of rippling or falling water is one of peace and there are many ways to incorporate it into your home and garden.
Bubbling fountain
These can be as simple as an urn to a more elaborate creation.
How to install: Smaller fountains are D-I-Y and come with either mains power or stand-alone solar pumps. Check before you buy. Large ones will require an electrician, plumber and local council approval because they pose a potential child drowning hazard.

Free-standing fountain
A triple-tier “wedding cake” to a girl with water cascading from an urn ... you can find fountains to suit all tastes and budgets.
How to install: D-I-Y, but check to see if there are pumps and whether your hose pressure is sufficient.

Ornamental water trough
Once common for horses to drink from, but now they are strictly for beauty, either freestanding or next to a wall. How to install: A hose fitting may be all that is needed. Large ones will need muscles, a crane and plumbing.

These dribble water and are easy to install: hook to the wall, connect the water and plug in the pump.

Tabletop bubbler
Use these as a centrepiece indoors or on your garden table.
How to install: Small ones run on batteries or are plugged in. Plumbing is rarely necessary.
