clever tricks and handy tips

READER’S PRIZE HINT

Before freezing a whole loaf of sliced bread, take the time to interleave the slices with small squares (about 10cm) of baking paper. No more stuck-together slices – and the paper squares can be stored in a ziplock bag and re-used. Z. Sholl, Langford, WA.

Sticky situations

If you get adhesive on the bottom of your iron when pressing interfacing or hem webbing in place, move the iron, on a low setting, over a dryer sheet until the residue disappears.

No more chips

A small piece of sticky tape on the wall when you’re going to hammer in a nail will prevent the paint from chipping.
