Land rights decision

The Australian Women's Weekly - - Scholarship -

Named after Eddie Mabo, the Torres Strait Islander who challenged the Australian legal system and fought for the right of Indigenous Australian people to be acknowledged as the traditional owners of their land, the 1992 Mabo decision was a watershed moment and led to the Native Title Act.

In 1964 there was only one band in the world, and that was The Beatles. When the “fab four” (left) landed in Sydney they were greeted by hordes of screaming teenagers and mass hysteria at their concerts.
