Sonia Kruger & David Campbell

-

Along with the sound of Christmas paper ripping and champagne corks popping, there’s a constant stream of music when David Campbell and Sonia Kruger celebrate the holidays with their respective families.

For Sonia, 53, there’s just one tune she listens out for. “Bing Crosby singing White

Christmas always brings me undone because that was my father’s favourite song,” she says. “Whenever I hear that song I send him love.”

Both Sonia, mum to two-year old Maggie, and David, dad to Leo, 8, and twins Billy and Betty, 2, will co-host Nine’s annual Carols by Candlelight in Melbourne on Christmas Eve before travelling back to Sydney to wake up in their own beds on the big day.

“The problem is I probably won’t get home until about 3am and Maggie will already be up with excitement,” laughs Sonia. “I’m going to be operating on not a lot of sleep but plenty of Christmas joy.”

“I love that moment in the morning when you see the magic in the kids’ eyes when they go, ‘That’s what I asked Santa for’,” adds David. “I feel upset already that that might end one day.”
