LETTER of the MONTH

I never miss an issue of The Weekly and I absolutely loved the extensive coverage in the December 2018 issue of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their tour of Australia. I think they are a perfect match and have done wonders for the popularity of the royals. Harry is everyone’s favourite. His down-to-earth, friendly personality has won the world over, and Meghan has taken to her duties with a natural ease and grace. Personally, I can’t wait to see even more of them in The Weekly – especially when baby

Sussex arrives! F. Henham, Bairnsdale, Vic.

MOUTH-WATERING MEMORIES

Sitting on the couch, I was wondering what menu to set for Christmas Day. Then my eyes landed on the Christmas issue of The Weekly adorning the coffee table ... and there was my answer. Salads, mains, sweets and more. Just perfect! I remember my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother turning to you for the exact same reason when I was a child. Thanks and congratulations on 85 years of mouth-watering cooking! P. Wyatt, via email.

AUSSIE WOMEN ROCK

In the ’70s the T-shirt to wear and be seen as feminine and progressive was being “plugged” by cigarette brand Virginia Slims. In bold print were the words, “You’ve come a long way, baby”. In no time at all there was a counterpoint shirt – it read: “I’m not your baby and I haven’t come a long way”. So Australian! I was in my 40s and absolutely loved and embraced it. Go women, and go The Weekly! M. Fisher, Brighton East, Vic. WRITE to us Letter of the Month wins $100.

INSPIRING FASHIONS

I really enjoyed Ladies Do Lunch ( AWW, Christmas). It was so good to see Mel, Natalie, Edwina, Melissa, Kylie and Samantha enjoying themselves and being natural (left). As the women are all so different in hair colour, face shape and size, it is good for female readers to relate to the fashion not just being on models. And the ladies really did the clothes justice. Bring on more real people. Thanks Women’s Weekly. R. Bennett, Gold Coast, Qld.

CHEERS TO ME!

Picking up my December 2018 copy of

The Weekly at Tullamarine airport, I was all set to sit back and enjoy reading about the talented Julia Morris at 50 and Harry and Meghan’s Aussie love story on a flight to Indonesia. I received a wonderful surprise when I opened my magazine

– I was the winning Pearl of Wisdom. My husband and I accepted a glass of champagne and toasted my achievement. Thanks for making me feel so proud. I had a smile on my face the whole flight! D. Bowden, Rosebud, Vic.

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not – EPICURUS A. Mavros, Sale, Vic.
