Nei­ther cran­berry juice nor sup­ple­ments are bet­ter than a placebo in treat­ing uri­nary tract in­fec­tions, but keep­ing hy­drated is now thought to be ef­fec­tive as it could pre­vent bac­te­ria stick­ing to the blad­der lin­ing. An al­ka­liser, such as bi-carb soda in wa­ter, can also make urine less acidic and help clear in­fec­tion.
