Part of the appeal of Scandi-crime is the landscape, and Danish author Mads Peder Nordbro brings a sense of wonder to the frozen wastes of Greenland in this thriller. Journalist Matthew Cave has moved to the Arctic following the death of his pregnant wife. He is sent to look into the discovery of a mummified Viking. But the mummy disappears and the policeman guarding the body is found naked and flayed. As the plot unfolds – it’s pretty grisly – Matthew uncovers four “cold case” murders that date back to 1973 that may also be linked with this discovery. We are totally hooked.
