INFRARED SAUNAS

-

“I t’s amazing what women can make men do with just an arch of an eyebrow.” – SCARLETT O’HARA They’re touted to soften wrinkles, boost firmness and smooth cellulite. Are infrared (IR) saunas too good to be true? THE TREATMENT: Once naked inside your private booth, an IR lamp slowly heats up your body – not the air around you. THE HYPE: Stars like Demi Moore (below) have visited IR “sweat lodges” in LA and NY. THE VERDICT: The heat gets tough but we’ll be back for the quiet time and post-IR glow. As for smoother skin? “There are no large studies to prove IR saunas have much effect on wrinkles or cellulite,” says Dr Eleni Yiasemides from SouthDerm. THE DETAILS: IR saunas such as Nimbus & Co, where it’s $45 per 45 minutes, are popping up at gyms and spas nationwide.
