Something for everyone

Fill your plate

The food at the World Fresh Marketplace – a seemingly never-ending buffet – is all about variety, with groaning platters of fresh, expertly-prepared food. Whatever your tastebuds desire it’s probably there, but book in advance for specialty restaurants like the classic French bistro Sur La Mer, Crown Grill or Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria. My sweet tooth was in heaven with a daily scoop from the authentic gelato bar, rivalling some of the best in Italy. My time at sea wasn’t long enough to try all 22 food and beverage venues so there’s loads of choice, and the Ocean Now MedallionClass app feature allows you to order from any outlet to wherever you are on board. The 24-hour room service was tempting for late-night snacks delivered to my cabin.

Relax & unwind

If you’re travelling solo, a couple without kids or just need some quiet time, The Sanctuary, located at the front of the ship, is an adult-only area with outdoor private cabanas where guests can take advantage of a massage and a selection of snacks and refreshments.

Wellness options abound at the luxurious Lotus Spa, which offer treatments that leave you feeling refreshed and pampered. A favourite of mine was The Enclave, adjoining the Lotus Spa. It’s a thermal suite and hydro-therapy pool with a cascading rain shower and therapeutic air jets. There’s also The Hammam, a Turkish-style steam bath with two different chambers – a light steam infused with herbal aromas or a dry heated chamber that helps detox the body. Afterwards, relax on heated stone beds or jump back into the thermal pool. My tip is to prebook your appointments using the MedallionClass app, as it does get busy at popular times.

Get moving

To work off the temptation of constantly eating and drinking, the Fitness Center caters for all levels of movement, be it a morning stretch class, Pilates or a weight-training session. This can all be booked via the MedallionClass app. There’s state-of-the-art exercise equipment with friendly, highly-trained staff to assist you, and the view is positively delightful, looking out to a stunning blue sea and clear skies. There are also guided walks, a running track, basketball court, mini golf, or you can swim in one of four pools or 10 spa pools.

Play time for kids

The MedallionClass app allows you to register all your travel companions, which is a boon for parents with young children, who can feel at ease knowing where they are on board. Kids aged three to 12 can get curious at The Treehouse and Camp Discovery, or if they are a little older there’s The Beach House, where kids 13 to 17 can hang out. It’s a safe, supervised space that allows entry and access only with their parents’ permission.

Entertainment

Book at seat at the Princess Theatre to see dazzling shows with a vivacious and talented cast of professional singers and dynamic dancers. Other smaller venues around the ship have non-stop live music and entertainment throughout the cruise.
