Alarm raised over Turkey’s in­va­sion

Scott Mor­ri­son and For­eign Min­is­ter Marise Payne have said they are “deeply trou­bled” by Turkey’s in­va­sion of north­east­ern Syria, declar­ing the de­ci­sion could have “grave con­se­quences” for the re­gion’s se­cu­rity and lead to the resur­gence of Is­lamic State.

The com­ments came as Turkey launched a large-scale airstrike and ground of­fen­sive against Kur­dish tar­gets.
