Leahy’s trial bid raised
MURDER accused Alan Leahy’s bid to avoid a Supreme Court trial over the deaths of his wife and her best friend will be mentioned in the Cairns Supreme Court today.
On March 1, State Coroner Michael Barnes committed Mr Leahy to stand trial over the baffling 1991 deaths of wife Julie-Anne Leahy and her best friend Vicki Arnold following a third inquest.
Mr Leahy later applied for a judicial review into the decision, and a hearing will take place in August.
The matter is being mentioned before Supreme Court Justice Jim Henry today after several exhibits were filed by his legal team over the past six weeks.
