A King when it comes to self-promotion

-

GAVIN King claims the glory for his so-called achievements in the State Budget.

My reading of the Budget, apart from a couple of breadcrumbs (e.g. $3 million for Cairns & Hinterland Hospital Board), is that the majority of the glory claimed by Mr King relates to recycled promises from last year’s budget (e.g. $38 million for dredging of inlet – yet to be approved by the Federal Government) or projects started and funded by the previous Labor govt (e.g. Cairns Base Hospital – what else were you going to do Mr King, cease all work?).

As well as assistant to the Tourism Minister, Mr King can add Minister for Cut and Paste, Minister for Self Promotion and Minister for Recycling to his portfolios.

Mr King it is time for you (as you demanded of your predecessor whilst a journalist for The Cairns Post) to stand up against the Premier for southeast Queensland and for your constituents, the people of Cairns (not Brisbane).

Geoff Rowe, Westcourt.
