Ironman needs an alternative route
IT’S unfortunate that some visitors and tourists leaving Cairns were delayed so long while commuting to the airport that they missed their flights, due to the road conditions that have been attributed to the recent ironman event.
As an employee at the airport, endless tales were conveyed to me and my work colleagues by irate and disappointed passengers throughout the day.
One group of travellers paid $180 for their taxi fare from Palm Cove.
As we rely so much on tourism in the area, and the ironman event seems to be growing in popularity every year, isn’t it time to look at an alternative route?
