Not happy about Julia’s treatment

-

THE questioner asked of the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard if her partner was homosexual? Not only was it totally inappropriate to ask anyone, let alone the PM, but the DJs inference was the PM was so unattractive that only a gay man would be her partner.

Will someone tell me the last time an Australian PM was asked in a radio interview leading up to an election if their partner was gay? Answer: Never.

When was the last time that an Australian PM was ridiculed in extreme sexist terms by a menu for a Liberal Party fund raising dinner? The answer: Never.

When was the last time an Australian PM was rated on dress, hair cut, style, shoes et al? Answer: Never.

The sad thing about it is the female members of the Liberal Party like Julie Bishop make no comment on these misogynist remarks.

It’d say they too want to be part of the ‘‘blokey blokey’’ mindset of the male members of the Liberal Party. You can just see Abbott, Hockey, Heffernan etc snickering about these jokes and feeling ever so superior because they, of course, are men.

It is time that the Australian public, particularly women, come out and support women especially Julia Gillard at this time, to make it clear that this sort behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated and show it through the ballot box.

If anyone wonders whether a female can do a great job for a country I cite Elizabeth II.

Sue Williams, Machans Beach. they are being allowed to pass our standards.

Companies are buying them as they are half the price of an Australian-built bus. One of Australia’s biggest bus companies has replaced its fleet with more than 300 of these buses.

If we continue to buy sub-standard, imported vehicles, all we are doing is robbing our children of employment.

While our two-party governments fight over their political survival, I ask who is looking after our country and its future for our children?

We need a change in political direction in this country.

I feel if the Independents and the Palmer and Katter parties put all their policies together we would have a much better governed Australia.
