World snapshot President demands Europe do its fair share of carrying load Muslim president given thumbs-down by candidate

NO EUROPEAN country can get out of taking in refugees who have the right to asylum, French President Francois Hollande has claimed.

His call came amid a row over how to fairly distribute a huge influx of migrants across the continent.

The redistribution “must involve all European countries – no one can be exempt or we would no longer belong to the same union built on values and principles,” Mr Hollande said during a visit to Morocco, leading in to tomorrow’s EU crisis summit on a proposal to spread 120,000 refugees across member states.

Mr Hollande told a press conference in Tangiers he had instructed his Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve to defend the plan for mandatory quotas at a meeting of his counterparts. A REPUBLICAN presidential candidate does not believe a Muslim should be elected to the nation’s top office, stirring up more controversy for a party that professes a commitment to broaden its appeal and promote tolerance.

Presidential candidate Ben Carson, a devout Christian, said a president’s faith should matter to voters if it ran counter to America’s values and principles. The

“I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation,” Mr Carson said in an interview on Sunday on NBC’s Meet The Press. ‘‘I absolutely would not agree with that.”

He did not specify in what way Islam ran counter to constitutional gees,” the French leader said.

Several eastern European countries, notably Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, have rejected the idea of accepting a share of migrants under national quotas that reflect populations and economic strength.

The escalating crisis saw thousands of migrants shunted from one border to another over the weekend.

Frontrunner Mr Trump declined to correct a town hall participant who wrongly said President Barack Obama was a Muslim. Days later, Mr Carson spoke about Muslims and the presidency.

The remarks were described as “un-American” by a Council on American-Islamic Relations spokesman.
