TASTES OF AN OPPORTUNITY

- NICK DALTON Contact Mr Barclay on 0419 783 637.

CAIRNS restaurateurs David Calcagno and James McLean are moving on after placing their signature Italian and seafood restaurant Bellocale on the market.

Bruce Barclay of Barrier Reef Business Brokers said the Shields St eatery was “discreetly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Cairns Esplanade” with seating capacity of up to 60.

“Bellocale provides the option of casual outdoor dining or a more intimate inside selection,” Mr Barclay said.

“Secrets of the Bellocale success story include the enhancement of the dining experience by great ambience and friendly, attentive staff.

“Head chef and business partner James McLean has taken on new and exquisite flavours for traditional Italian favourites including pasta and risotto, all complemented by a plentiful array of fresh local seafood and produce.

“David Calcagno has over the past four years cultivated a host of regular, repeat clientele and forged wonderful community relationships.

“David has also been instrumental in providing a wide selection of interesting Australian and Italian wines.

“David and James have outstanding reputations in the Cairns hospitality industry and the business is now primed to capitalise on a rejuvenated Cairns economy.”

Mr Barclay said domestic and international airport passenger numbers were growing and the falling Australian dollar was auguring well for the future of the region. He said the business included a quality fitout with all plant and equipment in excellent condition.

“Other features include a secure lease with affordable rent in a compact, easy to service tenancy,” Mr Barclay said.

“There is potential to further extend luncheon trading hours and increase revenue.

“However, I believe the true potential of the business will be realised on the completion of the Cairns Regional Council’s Shield St Heart Project.

“This initiative will transform Shields St into a pedestrian-friendly link between the Esplanade and Cairns central, with increased retail activity to help attract more visitors and draw residents back to the city centre.”

Mr Barclay said full financials, a detailed plant and equipment schedule and lease details were available to qualified interested parties.

The asking price $420,000 plus stock at value.
