Fun activities inspire
By Alexis Goodall, Year 6, Trinity Anglican School
THIS term, Years 5 and 6 have been doing a new selection of Middle Years Activities (MYA).
These activities are on every Tuesday from 1.50pm to 3.15pm.
Some of the activities include fishing, sewing, clay animation, projected art posters and recycled art.
For the fishing activity, pupils get to create new experiences.
It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time. It doesn’t matter if you know every trick in the book. What matters is that you have fun and enjoy yourself.
For a couple of weeks the fishermen practised their technique on the oval. There are some great grass fish out there!
Next week it’s fishing for real at the Palm Cove jetty.
For the sewing activity, pupils can also make great projects.
It doesn’t matter if you can’t put the thread through the needle or even if you can’t sew through in a straight line.
You can make things as big as a fashion line, or as little as making a small toy for a friend. It’s all about experience.
For claymation, pupils can get as creative as they can be.
It doesn’t matter if you’re not patient. It doesn’t matter if anyone else’s movie is better.
All that matters is that you have tried hard.
You can make something as big as a TV show, like Shaun the Sheep or even Wallace and Gromit.
You can make something as small as a 30-second film. All of this teaches you skills for the future.
For projected art posters, pupils also have the chance to make incredible things.
You can trace something as little as a ladybug or something as big as Apollo 11.
This helps your artistic skills, which could lead to a great future job.
For recycled art, pupils can let their creative side pop.
You can create a whole new fashion look, in fact you could give the world a whole new look. This can be helpful not only for you, but for other people.
All of these activities help us for the future. They give us experiences in things we haven’t tried before.
