France begins revenge attacks

- GEOFF CHAMBERS

UNDER the cover of dark, French fighter jets unleashed hell on Islamic State fighters, bombing a command post, recruitment centre and training camp.

The targeted strikes hit at the heart of IS territory, the terror group’s de facto capital Raqqa.

At least 20 bombs pummelled targets in the central Syrian city, which has been home to Australia’s most wanted terrorists.

Australian jihadists in Syria mocked the air strikes, as 12 warplanes – including 10 fighter jets – struck the IS stronghold.

The revenge attack mirrored a similar blitz by Jordan after pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh was burnt alive by IS butchers earlier this year.

The raids were launched from bases in the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, with jets dropping bombs over Raqqa and nearby towns across several hours.

Foreign fighters, including an Australian jihadist, joked about the bomb raids while an ISIS media branch claimed they suffered no casualties and that the sites targeted were abandoned.

“Kuffar (non-believers) don’t seem too happy lol these dogs are hitting Raqqa as I type,” Abu Al Shami said on social media.

He also attacked moderate Muslims, who he said remained “mute” in the battle to defend Islam. “The French deaths are a drop in the ocean compared to the atrocities of the French and its allies have did in the past to the Muslims … the blood of the Muslims is spilt everyday … the revenge attacks in France is just the beginning,” he said.
