Harsh way to treat lifelong taxpayer

-

QUOTING the ex-Labor minister Gary Johns (Keating government): “It is not a human right to raise a family and live off the taxpayer.”

What a fantastic adage to live by.

At 71, suffering from prostate cancer and still working part time, Centrelink has just informed me I will lose my Seniors Health Card because I earned over the threshold in 2013-14.

I guess that’s fair enough, only been paying tax since 1959, and yet to claim a benefit.

There must be lots of citizens much more worthy of a handout than me.

A Health Card that gives me a twice a year skin check, which has just resulted in a skin graft to my face as a result of a nasty BCC (skin cancer) being removed, at my expense in the private hospital.

Great work Centrelink, you’ll see me out yet and then you can rest easy.

Mike Smith, Clifton Beach of the $30 million the council assumed that it would get from the government. Now I see the Ergon land next door has to be acquired for parking.

You can bet Ergon will drive a hard bargain increasing the budget blowout even more.

So what else haven’t you thought about?

The only CPAC performance so far is either farce or tragedy.

Roll on the March council election next year.
