Tell me and I will listen to concerns
I REFER to an article in The Cairns Post (Dec 22), in relation to Mareeba’s housing crisis. In particular, in response to the Mareeba Home and Community Care co-ordinator’s misleading comments.
I have not placed priority of the proposed Mareeba Sports Precinct over that of the social issues that confront the Mar- eeba community, especially the needs of those most needing assistance.
Like many other people, organisations, community groups who want assistance to address an issue, advance a cause or remedy a problem, my electoral office doors are open.
In the case of the Mareeba Sports Precinct proponents, they had the foresight, courtesy and smarts to come and brief me on their proposal and discuss how we can work together to achieve the project.
This action was mirrored by the Tableland Cane Growers, who over the last six months have built a relationship with me to effect long-term positive change in the form of the passing of the historic Real Choice in Marketing Sugar Bill.
So in closing let me extend an invitation to the co-ordinator of Mareeba’s Home and Community to come and brief me on the issues that confront their organisation and discuss how we all best serve the people that need us the most.
