SISTERS’ LOVE STORY

- KIMBERLEY VLASIC

THE tale of two single sisters who found love after appearing in their local newspaper bemoaning a “man drought” reads like a Hollywood script.

But it’s one that rings very true for Michelle Evans and Sharon Reisinger (both formerly Douglas) and their now husbands, Tim and Mark.

The sisters, then aged 34 and 33 and living at Redlynch and Trinity Beach, opened up about their search for Mr Right as eligible bachelorettes in The Weekend Post in 2005.

Just weeks later they found him in housemates Tim and Mark who were scoping new venues for single women after reading the article.

“My sister and I were out at The Pier at the end of the September holidays, and I caught $5 that fell off the bar and met Tim that way, so every anniversary I give him a $5 note,” said Michelle, who now lives in Hervey Bay.

“Mark saw Tim talking to me and recognised me from the article.

“Tim got my number and we met up for a date a couple of weeks later.

“When my sister needed a date for my father’s birthday, I said ‘ why don’t you go on a blind date with Mark?

“Five weeks later, Tim proposed to me and we got married the following September (in 2006), and had our daughter nine months after that.

“Mark and Sharon married in 2007 and they have two boys now.”

Mark revealed how he knew Sharon was ‘the one’.

“She allowed me to be myself and we had similar interests,” he said.

“We’d established that we wanted similar things and we just got on well together.”

Sharon said she would recommend other singles take their search public.

“I think it would be a good way for young ones to get out there,” she said.

“I know it’s getting harder and harder to meet people these days, everything’s online.

“We were pretty lucky ... The attention was a little daunting in the beginning but then it died down and that’s when I met Mark.”
