Daintree visit

Many homes and businesses north of the Daintree River are powered using generators as the region is not connected to the main power grid. Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch said the State Government’s “lack of interest” in finding a solution to the issue had prompted him to invite Mr Frydenberg to the Daintree.

Fire threat grows

HOMES came under threat last night as several grassfires swept across the Far North. A blaze was “bearing down” on a property at Rossville, 300km north of Cairns, when the Cairns Post went to print. Earlier in the evening crews were also called to a threatening grassfire at Silkwood, near Innisfail. The blaze was quickly brought under control.
